The first meeting and/or orientation discussion is followed by a photo session, in the studio or at another (outside) location. One of the photographs, chosen in consultation with the client, serves as the point of departure for the portrait.
The dimensions of the painting are determined by the size of the person to be painted, his / her posture and the space that is available. Bo Bakker prefers to create life-size paintings, but if there's not enough space available, the portrait can be reduced to at least 60% of the actual life-size. It is also possible to reduce the dimensions of the painting by changing the pose, for instance, by painting the subjects sitting down rather than standing up.
